How much RAM does your computer have? What are your pagefile settings?

Could you please post a link to the SFZ file so that we can download it and try to reproduce the problem?

I see that you've deleted your reply, but I was able to download and test the SFZ file on my system before you did. It worked for me (and sounded pretty good), but that may be because I have more RAM than you (64 GiB versus 4 GiB).

I saw that MuseScore's memory footprint went up to around 20 GiB when I loaded the SFZ file. I don't know why it's so high, but it's possible there's some — and possibly a lot of — room for optimization here.

What are your pagefile settings?

No, I meant pagefile settings.

You might be able to load the SFZ file in MuseScore if you increase your pagefile size to something large (say, 32768 MiB for both initial and maximum size). It's not a real solution (the real solution would be to fix MuseScore so that it doesn't need such an absurd amount of RAM to load a SFZ file), but it might get you up and running for now.

Interestingly enough, I have a couple SFZ fonts in my folder. Just starting MuseScore pushes my memory % from 35 to 53. I have 8GB ram, so it'e not a problem. Starting an old flight simulator that is a know memory hog, does the same thing. Starting another notation software does not. Windows will give you limits on how much you can enlarge the virtual memory. Might work. There are pluses and minuses to it.
