Although I made a forum post with no responses a few months back: https://musescore.org/en/node/301509 entitled: "Enable Above/Below positioning for more elements while in edit mode", I've also realized that deleting should also be allowed while doing this.

As of now, one can not add a crescendo via keyboard shortcut, extend, and then press 'X' to have it change above or below placement. Nor can the user delete a hairpin midway by merely pressing [Delete]. I believe a user should, while doing the initialize placing, still be able to flip direction and also be able to quickly press delete if they change their minds in the process.

This also applies to slurs. With slurs, the user can flip direction with 'X' unlike with hairpins, but as with hairpins, neither can be deleted while in the middle of placing them. It doesn't seem to be an issue to any one else so far, as there were no responses, but again, this suggestion IMO seems appropriate to mention into the issue tracker.

Severity S5 - Suggestion S4 - Minor

Upon further reflection, I think this ought to be considered a bug rather than merely a suggestion. For the sake of consistency, a hairpin has no reason whatsoever to not allow changing direction when initially selected upon placement. In other words, there's no reason from a user's perspective why it's needed to deselect a hair pin and then re-select it in order to change its direction by way of keyboard.

The inspector reflects this bug: it isn't updated when inserting a hairpin via keyboard, whereas a dynamic mark (p/f) for example does update the inspector.
