Problem with repeats

• May 17, 2020 - 06:58

I'm creating a version of 'From Now On' from 'The Greatest Showman' so I can produce some rehearsal tracks for our choir, but I'm having difficulty with the repeat section between measures 109 and 116. I want this to play through three times but I can only get it to play twice. I've tried right-clicking the final measure and changing the play count number, all to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I had missed that Volta repeats box by not scrolling far enough down the page. Everything now works perfectly and all I have to do now is tidy up the score.

I use Audacity to record MP3 files using MuseScore's mixer panel which allows me to get the balance of sounds right for each vocal part. I was a rank novice when I started using MuseScore a couple of years ago, but have gradually got more experienced by using the software. Thanks to you, I can now tick off repeats and voltas from the list of things to master!

Are you aware you can export MP3 directly from MuseScore? File / Export. Only reason I can think of that you might need to resort to Audacity for this (not that it isn't a fine tool!) is if you want the metronome sound in there. Personally though I'd be more likely to add a metronome track manually to my score, make it invisible, etc.

Thanks for your interest in my recent query. I'm aware that I can create MP3 files in MuseScore, but I've grown so used to Audacity and find it very convenient when creating rehearsal tracks. With complicated pieces, choir members sometimes ask me to reduce the tempo slightly without affecting the pitch, and sometimes our musical director will decide that he wants to raise or lower the pitch of the original score by a semitone or more. It's really easy to do this in Audacity without messing up the original MuseScore file. I'm aware that I could use MuseScore's 'Save as' function, but I've become very familiar with the use of Audacity which is impressively flexible.

My MP3s go into a Dropbox file accessible by all choir members and it's been really useful since the COVID-19 lockdown as we haven't been able to meet up. We do have a Zoom rehearsal once a week, but with everyone having different broadband speeds, we can't rehearse with open microphones. Our musical director simply plays a keyboard and we just try to follow as best we can. It's going to be really interesting when we finally get back together again as we've been learning a lot of new numbers for a proposed Summer concert.

One of the best things about MuseScore is the rapid help that you get from fellow users when you encounter a problem, so thanks for taking the trouble to get in contact.
