1) I try to Update to a newer version - it fails to uninstall the existing one (refer to attached recording)
2) I try to uninstall Musescore using it own uninstaller - it fails to do so (refer to attached recording)
3) I look into the Windows 10 installed programs - Musescore does not appear in the list
But Musescore runs normally (which is the good news!)
There is no workaround, and I am stuck with this old version.
There is probably some registry kludge workaround, but I don't know where to find it.

I forgot to mention the revision I have installed and cannot update or uninstall.
It's Version 3.1.7078, Revision e26f7c4.
Grab the 3.1.0 installer (from https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v3.1) and pretend to install that (actually select uninstall)
Then install 3.4.2.

Thanks for your fast response.
No luck yet.
I tried the 3.1.0 installer, running both MuseScore-3.1.0-x86_64.msi and MuseScore-3.1.0-x86.msi.
The result in both cases is failure. The installer exits saying that 'a later version of MuseScore is already installed'.

Then you're not in 3.1 currently. And one of the images in the initial post indeed confirms: you're on 3.2.3! (and 64bit)
So get a 3.2.3 installer (/from https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v3.2.3) and try with that
I tried to run the 64 bit 3.2.3 installer (from https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/releases/tag/v3.2.3).
It failed as shown in the recording 'MuseScore_3.2.3_Installer cannot_Run.zip'
My system seems to be in some kind of inconsistent state.
When I run Musescore, it is a 3.1 version that runs.
But as you noticed, the system thinks it has a 3.2.3 version installed.
Then I guess you'd need to remove MuseScore manually, deleting all it's files and registry entries

That's what I feared.
Is there anywhere a guide for that?

Direct that dialog asking for the msi to where you saved it

Thanks a lot!
That saved the problem.
As per your advice I directed the dialog to my 'Downloads' folder, where the 3.2.3 MSI file was stored.
The 3.2.3 installation ran perfectly.
Then I ran the newly installed 3.2.3 version and asked it to upgrade to the latest 3.4.2.9788.
That worked well too.
