Audio drop-out in one place in vocal lines but only when 'cello is not muted

• Jun 5, 2020 - 21:43

MS 3.4, Windows 10
In measure 144 of the attached, the first note of the vocal lines ("Ho" of Ho-jo-to-ho) doesn't produce sound on my system. The other staves seem to sound properly. The following measure (145) is nearly identical in the vocal lines, but the first note sounds in that measure.
My trouble-shooting included re-creating the measure; restarting MS; re-loading the score; lowering the vocal line's volume in the Mixer; and deleting a large section of the middle of the score.

>>What I eventually found is that when the 'cello part is playing (as in either not muted, or every other instrument "solo" in the Mixer), that note in the vocals does not sound. If the 'cello is muted, the vocal lines sound properly.
Any ideas appreciated.

I’m using the MS HD soundfont, no unusual settings. As stated, when cello is muted it sounds properly. With cello enabled, its as if the first note of the measure 144 for all 8 vocal parts is set to Not Play in the inspector.
Does the computer sound card in any way enter into this?
One thing I haven’t tried yet is to create an MP3 and see if it has the same issue.
Another not yet tried test is to leave cellos not muted but to delete the cello notes in that measure.

Update- additional trouble-shooting results.
>Played the score on two other Windows10 PCs, the issue was present on both of them.
>Exported an MP3 of the score, it had the same issue.
>>>>The attached .zip is that MP3, the non-sounding notes are at 4 minutes 30 seconds.
>Exported a WAV of the score, it had the same issue.
>Made the corresponding note in the cello part silent, no affect on the issue.
>Deleted the corresponding note in the cello part, no affect on the issue.
>Deleted the corresponding measure in the cello part, no affect on the issue.
>Played the score on MS 3.5 alpha, the issue still presents.
>>>Only muting the cello part in the mixer allows the vocal lines to sound on the first note of measure 144.
I did notice something new: Measure 145 in the vocal lines is almost identical to measure 144. The first note in the vocals of measure 145 sounds, but sometimes at a reduced volume compared to when the cello part is muted.
Any ideas appreciated.
Successful work-around: Set the note to Not Play, insert an identical (playing) note in Voice 2, it sounds appropriately.
