Chromebook crashing when loading any score

• Jun 7, 2020 - 02:55

I updated my chromebook probably about a month ago and ever since doing that update I am unable to use Musescore. I run the command in Terminal to open musescore and it opens the main menu. But then, whether I try to create a new score or open an old score of mine it crashes my chromebook entirely. I've seen one other post in the forums about someone having the same problem but there didn't seem to be a solution. Wondering if anyone has gotten this figured out. I'm sure I could just run an uninstall command on Terminal and reinstall it but I honestly am not even sure how I got musescore installed in the first place as I am not proficient in Linux or using the Terminal.

Upgrade at least to ChromeOS 83, google broke something in 81 for a lot of linux apps. I've read on these forums that those issues should be resolved in 83.

Definitely fixed for me in 83, so time to update again. But, the crashes can also also be addressed by being sure to run the "install" step on the AppImage. It's really a good thing to do anyhow, much nicer to have a program icon you can pin to the shelf, etc.

See the Download menu above to be sure you have the most recent version of MuseScore (the AppImage) and the instructions for installation.
