adding a new font
Hi there, I want to edit notes with musescore, but with a different note-font other than the SMuFL ones that are built in into the binary. please add a feature that allows importing a new font-style.
if the fear is from UX, I recommend making this feature with a warning to users.
another alternative is maybe making it available only by a plugin-API call, also usable.
thanks!

The (well, at least one and the main) reason for to allowing external Musical fonts is that then you'd have to deliver the font along with the score for it to look the same on another computer, and that this won't be possible at all on musescore.com.
Also the license/copyright issues that may go along with that need to be taken into account.
There's one additional font waiting to get added though. see https://musescore.org/en/node/295588 and https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/5381
But, it would need to be SMuFL to have any chance of working.

How do I install a smufl?

SMuFL isn't a thing you install, its the international standard for music fonts. So MuseScore already supports SMuFL, and provides a variety of music fonts compatible with that standard to choose between (see Format / Style / Score).
If you explain more detail what the actual problem ist hat you are trying to solve, we can understand and assist better.

No, installing custom soundfonts

Soundfonts are completely different from notation fonts; SMuFL has nothing to do with it. Instead, the relevant standard is called General MIDI, but MuseScore can actually handle non/standard soundfonts too. For info on how to install and use them, just see the soundfonts section of the Handbook. And if you have further questions after reading that, best to start a new thread.

I mean SMuFL, not soundfonts

Then my original response applies. You don’t “install” SMuFL, it’s built in. All of the music fonts supported by MuseScore - the ones you can select in Format / Style / Score - are SMuFL-compliant.

(I like that one the best)

MuseScore doesn't support loading third party music fonts. You can use all the third-party text fonts you like, but for music fonts, you need to select from the ones listed in Format / Style / Score.

Can you make it possible in a future update?

It might be, but there will be both technical and licensing issues to solve first. Meanwhile, I recommend starting a new thread in the feature request forum about this font in particular. Then if there are enough others interested in seeing it supported directly, that could be considered.
