Measures don't add up with different time signatures in different parts

The violin part is in 6/8, while the piano part is in 2/4. Any inputs that do not have off-beat notes are not a problem. For example, two quarter notes in a measure, or 4 eighth notes in a measure are both fine. In these cases, it always adds up to 2 beats in the measure.

However, Musescore 3 is adding a 16th rest when I try to write an 8th note in the piano part (does not have to be a chord) followed by a quarter note on the off-beat.

The first image is from my score. It is 566 measures into the piece, so I might have messed up inputs earlier in the piece.

So, I created a new score with the same time signatures in the parts, and isolated the "problem measure." The second and third images show how voice 2 insists on adding another eighth note to the measure.

I messed around with different voices, and this also occurs with voices 1, 3, and 4.

In the final picture, I added the violin eighth notes, then added an eighth note to the piano part, followed by a quarter and then another eighth note. Musescore then let me add a dot to the quarter note, without getting rid of the final eighth note. I shouldn't be able to do this.

Is there a work-around to this bug, or am I missing something?

Yes. The bug corrupts the score.
There's really no way I can send you the score file with the bugs still there for you to experiment with.
I'm a beginner with this software, so I didn't know Musescore will not let you into the score on your side, if the score is corrupt.
The only way I can get in, on my side, is if I click "Ignore" when it tells me the score is corrupt.
Here is a picture of the entire score, at least.

The "score is corrupt message" tells you that there is corruption and points to where it can be found. At the moment (at least) one has to manually correct the corruption, which in my experience means insterting a new measure (bar), rewriting the bar and then deleting the corrupt bar. In a score that can be quite a bit of work.
