Splitting one part into multiple parts

Is there a way for a part/instrument to split into multiple parts/instruments halfway through the score without having to add multiple instruments from the beginning, then hiding the blank staves of those additional parts? The latter solution makes note input rather cluttered.

Also, I considered maybe just changing the instruments of every staff but then there is the problem of naming the instruments, because I assume that you can't use multiple names for the same staff and toggle between one and other when the instruments are switched.
