See the attached screen capture gif.

  • add an Ab with an 8va line in a G# key signature
  • later in the bar add the same Ab pitch without an 8va
  • Musescore incorrectly doesn't add the flat sign, even though it plays it as a flat note

(Furthermore, is there a design issue open for entering pitches? It's so tedious compared to Sibelius. Instead of allowing direct shortcut keys on the keypad for nat/flat/sharp, we have to use up/down arrows, which jump the hand away from the keypad, then jump even further back and forth from the keypad to the 'j' key to cycle through accidentals. Can't we just set the keypad map to the same as Sibelius somehow??)

"Can't we just set the keypad map to the same as Sibelius somehow??)". Well, I don't know what the SIbelius map is like but you can modify the default shortcuts and also define new ones for a number of actions that don't currently have them via [Edit]>[Preferences]>[Shortcuts]. For example I have "#" for note input sharp, "-" for note input flat and "=" for note input natural which somewhat deals with your specific question about how to enter accidentals.
