Musescore freezes on startup

As soon as I open musescore (which I have done both through start menu and through file explorer), it says one of my scores has closed unexpectedly and if I would like to restore the session. Both options bring me to a white screen that then turns to the musescore hud but nothing else, and the app freezes. I can't even minimize the task, I have to close it through task manager. I've removed all my scores, I've reinstalled musescore countless times, I've edited the .ini file to get rid of any recent scores. I also have tried downloading a public domain score and opening it, which still prompts the "score has closed unexpectedly" thing. Either option I click opens up the new score I downloaded but once again musescore is frozen and not responding to anything
