Playback head goes wherever it wants and not where I clicked

For some reason this just happened to me, but it's made musescore completely unusable. No matter where I click, I can't change the position of the playback head. I can't even reset it back to the beginning of the score without playing in looped mode. whenever I click and then play it, it goes where I click for a fraction of a second, before immediatly jumping to wherever it last was when I stopped the playback. This isn't just for one score either, now all of my scores are unable to be worked with at all. I've been using musescore for many years and this 3.5 update has been the only update where I've wanted to rollback to the previous version because of the issues.
