MIDI import and Cross-stave notation

• Oct 28, 2020 - 19:16

Hi!
I did a test import of a small MIDI file. The information imported OK. The actual import is seen as the top stave of the score.
Since I wanted the information spread across a great stave I tried adding a great stave, copying the notes to the great staff. (Middle great staff)
I then shifted the notes to the correct staff using Ctrl Shift Up/Down. This did work (bottom great staff) but I was left with invalid rest signs in the staffs. There should be a 1/4 rest on the 1st beat of the 2nd bar of the bass staff and a 1/4 rest on the 2nd beat of the same bar in the treble. Also there should be a 1/2 rest in the bass staff in the 3rd bar.
When I try and add a 1/4 rest on the 1st beat of bar 2 it deletes the cord on the top stave etc.

Cross-staff notation does not (logically) move notes to a different staff, they still belong to their original staff. Use Cut & Paste to actually really move notes

Depending on how you want to go from a single staff to a double staff, you might try right-clicking the staff and using the "split staff" function.
