Transposing Tuba to Electric Bass

• Nov 15, 2020 - 00:02

Greetings:
Is there a program to transpose Tuba charts to electric bass?
I can't read anything below low E.
Thanks

Doesn't matter if you can read it (although if you click the note, you'll see the name of the note given in the status bar at bottom left). Just click any notes that seem to low and hit Ctrl+Up to move them up an octave.

But actually, chances are the tuba notes are written at concert pitch, and your bass already sounds an octave lower than written. So really, you should probably transpose everything up an octave to sound correct. Ctrl+A to select all, then Ctrl+Up to transpose up an octave. Or it might be that simply changing instrument to bass will handle the transposition automatically.

In order to say for sure, we'd need you to attach the score you are working on.

Thanks everyone for your replies - but this site is way to hard to navigate for what I was trying to achieve.
I'm out.

This is the one:
https://musescore.org/en

I have the Musescore download.
Did you install it? What did you install it on (hardware)?
There is also an Android app and an iphone app. They are not the full featured score writer program.

Moving up an Octave does not help because I can't read the notes I'm moving.

If you mean you cannot read the note name (from something you are copying) to type into MuseScore in the first place, simply enter a low E. You can then click on the notehead and use the down (or up) arrow to make it look like the note (pitch) you are copying. Don't worry about needing to know the names of notes outside of your comfort zone.

That's precisely why this forum exists... people here are willing to help.
Response times are relatively quick (compared to other web sites).

What you are trying to achieve (transpose to another instrument) is a common task, a simple procedure in MuseScore.
Please attach a screenshot of the sort of music you are trying to copy; or attach a MuseScore file (.mscz or .mscx); or a MusicXML file (.xml or .musicxml). Even a .pdf would provide more info.

Regards, and welcome aboard.
