Layout of page
I cannot find in the documentation how to control the number of staves on a page. I want the first page to have one less stave than the subsequent pages so I have a wide top margin to place the title and composer of the piece.
In a similar vein, I cannot figure out how to split a stave to force measures to the next staff.

In addition to the reply above. If you start by adding the frame to place your title and composer and size it to your liking, MuseScore will already make systems overflow the the next page when they can't fit on the current one.

But to be clear - simply adding the title will automatically create room for it. You don't have to do anything special to make that happen.
If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score so we can understand and advise better.
