I just updated my software but am finding that when I try and playback and listen to what I have written, the audio sometimes doesn't play back at all or I'll get little delayed fragments of the piece being played. It's becoming a little frustrating and I've tried restarting the software but the issue seems to actually be worse. I've switched between a pair of AirPods and headphones and both have the same issue.

What OS, and what settings do you see in Edit / Preferences / I/O? Try changing to one of the other drivers to see if that helps. Unfortunately all systems are different so there is no good one-size-fits-all solution.
