Can I add just a few bars of an extra system?
I'm trying to transcribe something into Musescore. I think the intention at one point is (effectively) to use an additional system for four bars. The piece is probably intended for guitar - mostly written out with jazz chord symbols, but a few bars seem to have the chords written out fully. Is it possible to get an extra system just for those few bars?
I can get a feel for it by allocating two systems throughout, but I don't really want to do that. Alternatively perhaps do that, and then hide most of the bars except for the bars in question.
There may be some convention amongst jazz musicians for this kind of thing which I haven't picked up yet, or maybe it's just an awkward piece.

Add instrument, enter notes, use "Hide empty staves"

Works for layout OK - but the chord symbols on the hidden stave don't get played - not even on the "piano".
Ideally I'd like guitar for the top plus the chords.
Also, there are some bars with triplets - but they actually sound as four notes. I have been wondering if Musescore always plays things exactly as written, and in the example today it clearly doesn't.

? Hidden chord symbols do get played normally
Don't understand what you mean about triplets
I guess you'd need to share the score and a picture of what it should look like

I figured the triplet issue - see the fragment below. Basically it's the shord in the 2nd part which gives the extra note - so it sounds like four notes rather than a triplet. I took the chord out of the first bar to test this.
This isn't my piece, so I didn't expect this, and I didn't want to supply the whole thing either, so this is just a fragment.
Looking at it again, is there a way to move eitther the chord in the 2nd part to the right, or the note in the upper part to the left? As it stands the layout does give the impression that the triplet should be clearly defined, whereas adding in the 2nd part belies that sound and gives the impression of 4 notes before the chord.

there are four notes before the chord, 3 from the triplet (3 8th in the space of 2) and the hald note, which starts just an 8th before the chord
I guess here, in this compound meter, you don't want a triplet in the first place?

Or for this particular staff use "cutaway"

Just a note if you find yourself searching for information on topics like this in the future - what you really talking about is adding a staff for just those few bars. A "system" means the whole set of staves across all instruments. So what you want is to add an extra staff just for that system. This is indeed what "Hide empty staves within systems" does.
