On the ornaments pallet and when in the score, the notation for the mordent is the same as the notation for the inverted mordent (the mordent symbol with a vertical line through it). This is since the new engraving update.

Those recently swapped places in SMuFL, Mordent became Short trill and Inverted Modent became Mordent. MuseScore 3.6 follows that, but on existing installs the Workspace apparently does not get updated with that. It would after a factory reset.

Resetting the panel also fixes the symbol. (Click … on the Ornaments panel and Reset Palette.)
