Sound and score playback function not working

1.) Open a score in MuseScore
2.) Play button is grayed out
3.) No sound is played when a note is selected or placed

I can still write and select notes, there is just no sound at all, no matter if the score is opened directly through the file explorer or through the MuseScore popup. This is a new issue that has started several days after I updated to the newest version.
