Adding a new instrument stave mid-way through the score. Please help.
Hello. I am trying to recreate this piece of music, exactly as it was written. It is written for solo violin initially, but midway through the score another violin joins (playing violin and singing at the same time), as you can see. Is it possible to somehow make this work? I wouldn't want to have both staves from the beginning with the second violin having pauses, I would want to write the score exactly as is the picture attached. Thank you very much.

Add the staff normally (Edit / Instruments), then add the notes, then when done, go to Format / Style / Score and enable "Hide empty staves".

Is there a way to do this without it happening for every instrument? I have a flute that does not have lines during certain systems, but I still want the staff to show. Meanwhile, I have a percussion staff that doesn't appear until the second half of the piece and don't want it to show.

To hide empty staves for a single instrument only, right-click the staff in question, Staff/Part Properties, and set "Hide when empty" to "Always".
