New question: adding RNs/figured bass with no pitches or rests
I've been so impressed with the quick responses on this forum--it is frankly amazing!
New question: I want to write some Roman numerals in, for students to write as their assignment. Once again, I do not want to add a note or a rest.
Can I do that? And if not, how can I make convincing-looking two-tier figured bass symbols (like 64 for a second-inversion triad) using the text frame? I see the figured bass symbols, but all of them are single numbers and all subscript, from what I can tell.

what I'd like to do is rig up the stacked figured bass using a couple of little text blocks, but it doesn't seem possible to rig it up like that. Is it? I am a refugee from Noteability, which unfortunately is not being updated to the new Mac iOS. It was possible to do everything very simply because the program allowed you to basically draw anything and drag it anywhere.

No need to resort to invisible notes or tests - just click the initial default measure rest, add your first RNA element, then hit Space or semicolon to move to the next beat, Ctrl+numebr to advance by the specified duration, etc. See the Handbook for more info.
As for adding RNA to plain text, that's easy, just use the same font the RNA system uses: Campania.

Ah, right.

OK, but what about the double-decker figured bass? that's what I can't figure out, how to make it happen in text. Will that happen automatically with Campania? thanks so much for all of the help!

Yes, it will. MuseScore doesn't itself have any special code to do that stacking - it's all handled by the font. You can also download the font for use in other programs. See:
