Notation query
Hi there. I need to write notes that denote rhythm only, and not pitch. The idea is to write the rhythm out, and attach chord symbols (like the enclosed, first line). Sorry, I don't even know what such notes are called, so can't search for it in the user guide. Can you do this in MS, and if so, what should I search for? Thanks!

Thank you!
A pianist friend tells me such notes are known as 'abduls', 'after Count Abdul von Sommeren, a music notation innovator'. I think he may have been having me on.

FWIW, I've never heard that term, and a web search on that name turns up some really bizarrely random results. Pretty sure there is no such person :-)

David, I am sorry to tell you that even the Dolmetsch online music dictionary has never heard of an "abdul"...
