adjusting distance between staves
In MuseScore 3.6.2, I've downloaded an organ score, and find extremely large vertical distance between the right and left hand (1st and 2nd) staves in the system; distance between left hand and pedal (2nd and 3rd) staves appears normal. This appears in Continuous View, and on the first page only of Page View, with subsequent pages spaced appropriately. I found and removed all the vertical spacers, but the extreme spacing has not gone away. There must be a setting in Format > Style somewhere that I don't know about. Could you please enlighten me?
Thank you.

If you are seeing extreme spacing within a single system, it's probably not the vertical justification doing this - it's much more likely to be some element that was added to one staff and dragged way far away to appear as if it were on a different one, and MuseScore is adding extra room to avoid the apparent collision. If you select the measures involved and hit Ctrl+R, that should reset the positions things and fix this. If you continue to have trouble, please attach the score so we can understand and assist better.
In MuseScore 3.6.2, I just had a cousin of that problem. The staves in the first line of a score were more than twice as far apart vertically than the other staves in the score. "I had done nothing", as the saying goes, to change the distancing. The only clue was that there was an 1/8th note rest floating above the first measure in the lower staff, which by the way is a bass drum staff. That looked like trouble to me so I deleted that measure and the distancing problem was fixed.
Happy debugging to all,

Most likey that note had been dragged out of its proper position. In the future if that happens, just select it and hit Ctrl+R to reset it.
