false default - non existing tones

Whenever I write a line for bass guitar, Musescore would go for the closest next note, even if it's not in the instument's range. The note is red, but I'd rather it not be there at all. Can you please set as default going to the closest POSSIBLE note, instead of the nearest on stave? Is there a way to set this a a preference?
