Force measures to stay a certain length?
I want to keep measures in a specific staff a certain length, whether or not I use flags or beams. Is there any way to prevent the automatic adjustment of measure length that happens when I change flags to beams on a series of (say) eighth notes?

Well, MuseScore 1 didn't have a specific option to lock measure widths at any size, just one to force equal widths across the system, which actually didn't work well in the presence of clefs, key signatures, different measure durations, etc.
But depending on the contex,t it is possible to make settings that will minimize the change in measure width that would naturally happen to accommodate changes in the actual content of those measures. In Format / Style / Measure, experiment with things like low values for spacing and minimum note distance, then adding system breaks manually. Also with higher values for minimum measures width.

It might be possible to make the measures approximately the same size by adding many hidden notes of short duration but that could make all measures quite wide.
