Notation without using time signatures
I would like to write plainchant with NO time signature. Not just removing the time signature from the manuscript but writing without one at all, not even indicating one when creating a new manuscript from scratch, using quarter and eighth notes. Thanks. Jan

You can't currently do this - MuseScore does need some way to organize notes into measures internally - but you can certainly make it just as if there where none. Just use the commands in Tools / Measures to join and split measures as desired, and/or use Measure Oproerties to set actual measure durations as desired, and/or use the Insert note input mode, to put as many notes onto a system as you like, then end the measure there. So basically, you'll have one measure per system, with each having varying numbers of beat:
