change of stave instrument could change the key signature
Hi all,
When I produce MuS scores converting from a PDF file, I use an application that converts all info except for the stave instrument name. Hence when I import the XML file on MuS it shows Part_1, Part_2, etc. (see attached picture)
The problem arises when, while in MuS, I want to apply the right instrument to the stave.
Depending on the instrument, it could change the key signature.
Is there a way to prevent the change? May be modifying the XML with an editor, any advise on how to change it?
Thanks,

Apologies, here's the picture.

I've forgotten to add that, yes I know I can change the instrument name only but that will not change its sound that will stay piano, and for me the sound is important.

You can change the instrument too, via the staves' properties

I've found the solution:
+ add a new staff with the right instrument and key signature
+ copy and paste all measures from old to new
+ delete old stave

Change instrument (right-click into the staff, Staff/Instrument properities > Chnmage instrument) should be the easier option, should fix sound, transpositioning, range, and maybe clef too
What XML? https://musescore.com/import returns an mscz, not an XML file (but Audiveris, the program behind that service does)

Jojo, I use SharpEye

You can certainly edit the XML SharpEye produces and change the instruments definitions in it.
Check MuseScore's XML export of a score that has it set right to see which changes you'd need to make
