Curious short form of instrument name

• Apr 28, 2021 - 09:53

I noticed a score recently which used Klavier (rather than piano) as an instrument name.
The short form which appeared on subsequent pages become "Flgl" - and I rather wondered why.

What does "Flgl" mean?

Comments

Flügel, German for Grand Piano. Probably a wrong translation at the time that score got created. Should be "Klav." now, for "Klavier" (which basically is an Upright Piano)
