Chord Symbol; copy/paste

• Apr 28, 2021 - 23:56

So many times have repeating chord symbols and you have to type each one . (or highlite/select all/copy/move cursor to new note/paste]
in which time you could have just typed it in.

Please; opt/select [the entire symbol] and drag the copy to desired note.

thank you

You can copy and paste as many chord symbols as you like. Just select them (eg, click one, shift+click another to select between), then Ctrl+C to copy, click the destination, Ctrl+V to paste. nhot sure what you're thinking would be faster - you need to select them one way or another, and the thee clicks after that are guaranteed to be infinitely faster than dragging.

Did you try what I said - click one, shift+click another? That will select all chord symbols in that range regardless of what system they are on. Only limitation - it doesn't work if the last chord symbol you want is on the very last note of the piece. But if the goal is to select all chords on the staff, easier to right-click one, then Select / All Similar Elements in Same Staff. Lots of other ways to make selections to - like first select the range of measures/staves, then right click a chord and Select / All Similar Elements in Range Selection (which is what the click / shift+click method is actually doing behind the scenes). You can even make discointugous selections - adding certain chords to or removing certain chords from from the selection - by Ctrl+clicking.

If you continue to have questions on how to select chord symbols to copy. attach your score and describe what you want to do, then we can understand and assist better.

thanks much Marc. i will try some of these

However, I did not have success shift clicking on different systems. And the results varied. Sometimes the selections on the top system would disappear, sometimes the selections on the bottom. Once they all disappeared, and then came back! I am running the latest version.
