How to input the bars connecting the quarter notes
The tours are not showing me how to input the bars connecting the quarter notes, and I can't figure it out. I'll keep trying, but help would be nice, and I'm not sure if it's a bug.

In the top menu, click on the eighth note button, or alternatively press 4 on the keyboard while in Note Input mode. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input
oops, I think i said the wrong thing. I mean the bars connecting the quarter notes.

In that case, what do you mean by "bars connecting the quarter notes"? We'd need a picture as an example to know what you mean.

Quarter notes don't have beams - only eighth and shorter durations do. So, exactly as said before - simply select the correct duration to begin with, the beams are handled completely automatically. In other words, you don't enter quarter notes then add beams to try to turn them into eighth notes - you simply enter eighth notes, period.
