error in 'concert pitch' for transposing instruments

• May 26, 2021 - 02:42

I wish to report a problem with the software. It is on Mac OS11.3.1.
For a transposing instrument (in particular the Horn in F) there are notes that do not transpose to the correct octave when using the 'Concert Pitch' button. The errors appear in the score and in the parts. (Mainly they appear up one octave, but some are down an octave.) I have attached an example of this. It requires a lot of time checking every note in the transposed score, when the work has been composed (or arranged in my case) in 'Concert pitch'.
I am impressed with Musescore and want to see it improved.

This can happen if you change transposition for either the score or the parts after generating the parts? If so, solution is to delete and then regenerate the part. Otherwise, can you say which notes you see a problem with? Offhand I didn't notice any, but I didn't know where to look.

Actually, though, I see a different problem - it seems you changed from Horn in F to another instrument at the section marked "Trio". It seems you added an instrument change text without realizing it - maybe you justed bold text, but that's not the way to do it, it tells MuseScore there is a new instrument there. This messes up things like changing transposition, as from that section onward, the transposition change doesn't apply.

So, delete the instrument changes (right-click one, Select / All Similar Elements, Delete), then reasses. Oh, and add the text back as staff text and mark it bold using the Inspector.
