Specify staff group name as well as individual staff name?

It's very common in orchestral scores for groups of staves to have a name that's centred between the staves (as works now if you create a multi-staff instrument) but to additionally have labels for each of the individual staves (e.g. with numbers for the individual parts) - the B&H Rite of Spring score does this throughout for instance, and there's an example here with the Ob., Cor in Fa and even Timp. gr. staves: https://musescore.org/sites/musescore.org/files/styles/width_360/public…. Alternatively it might be that for the first system in a movement the "long names" are displayed per staff, but on subsequent systems the "short names" are shared between a group of staves. It's also not that unusual to have vertical text for the "group names" (e.g. Mahler 8 has SOLI, I CHOR and II CHOR. Note that the "SOLI" section has NO bracketing, and consists of up to 8 staves!), then regular horizontal text for the individual staves.
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to go about doing any of this in MuseScore - the long/short name trick I managed to get working using lots of extra staves and hiding etc. but that's about it.
Is there some other way I could cause particular text to appear just at the beginning of each system for a particular staff?
Can MuseScore do vertically rotated rotated text at all?

Finally found https://musescore.org/en/node/164941 where somebody else had the same issue as my first one along with a proposed solution using multi-line staff names, but I don't really see that as a fully workable solution as the spacing between the two staves changes from system to system. For all but the most extreme cases it's a passable workaround - and if it were a particularly uncommon practice I'd accept it was OK but I'd say over 50% of the scores I have use this formatting.
