Random crashes in Musescore, for win 10

• Jun 10, 2021 - 22:23

Have random crashes with latest version 3.62 in Windows 10. Have no files to upload as all crashes delete the files. Microsoft reports program not responding, and sends crash data to microsoft. No particular acitivity to blame, but commonly is chord symbols and fret diagrams. I can't get the failure to repeat. It occurrs several times nightly. This did not happen for 3 versions before this. Is there a stable earlier version.

Huh... I've been using MuseScore 3.6.2 on Windows 10 for months, and I haven't experienced any crashes except with a long score converted from a non-quantized MIDI file (C:\Windows\Media\onestop.mid, to be specific). I suppose that technically, I've mostly been using the portable version, which you can download here, but I don't think that has anything to do with it, because the normal version doesn't crash either. Maybe try uninstalling/reinstalling? Or a factory reset?

There are no new known crashes I can think of, so whatever is going on is more likely a function of some corruption that has crept into your score or something else that has changed on your system, or just some operation you haven't tried before. Best to attach your score and your best approximation of steps to reproduce the problem. Crashes never ever delete any files, if you saved the file before the crash, it is still there on your hard drive right where you saved it.
