Keeping Style adjustments

• Jul 6, 2021 - 00:43

After I "disable vertical justification", as soon as I close the Style menu box, the systems go back to being justified. How do I get the adjustments I make in the Style menus to "stick"? I also want to reduce the distance between the systems, but, again, the score goes back to default as soon as I close the Style box. I can't see any button for "save". Thanks for help.

If you close the Style window by clicking the "OK" button, it means you have confirmed your changes (Save changes).
If you close it by pressing the "Cancel" button or pressing the "x" icon at the top-right, it means that you do not approve the changes you have made (Ignore the changes).

Thank you! This reminds me of my frustration: I have succeeded with making these changes before. But last time I did it, I looked for the "Save" button or "ok" button and could not find it. The page on my screen was too long, and I couldn't find a scroll bar to move it up so I could see the bottom of the page. Your message assured me that there was in fact an OK button, I had to find it. Eventually I learned that I could shrink the entire page with those arrows at the corner: then the OK button appeared! Thank you! Now, given your brilliant success with this problem of mine, can I ask you: How do I make the distance between systems (= 1 treble + 1 bass clef, right?) smaller so that I can get more "systems" on one page? What is that called on the Style page? Thank you!

If your system meets the minimum requires for screen resolution, the OK button should always be visible. But there are certain non-standard monitor configurations on certain OS's where this doesn't allways work correctly, and it can be necessary to override what the OS reports as the display resolution, either through properties on the MuseScore executable file, or a command-line option. What OS, and what is your actual display resolution in DPI? BTW, even if you can't see the OK button, pressing Enter does the same.

As for how to fit more systems on the page, the main setting is the minimum system distance in Format / Style / Page - plus of course the actual staff space size and page / margin sizes in Format / Page Settings. But there can be all sorts of other things affecting the results for any particular score. So in order to really advise better, we'd need you to attach your score.
