How do I condense spacing between staves ONLY on certain passages?

• Sep 4, 2014 - 22:20

Hi guys!

Here's the file: Art_Deco.mscz. It was created in the MS 2.0 Beta 1.

Is there any way to "compress" the space between the staves on page 2 & 3 so they fit in only one page without resizing the rest of the chart, or modifying the 4 bars per line / equal bar spacing layout that I have setup? So far, I've only managed to make changes to the whole chart which is obviously not something I want. Another alternative would be to create a separate file for pages 2 & 3 but I like the convenience of having it all in the same file.

Thanks!

Second question first - if you want a different number of measures per line, just delete the line breaks (the little icons above the last barline of each system), and possibly add new ones.

As for spacing between systems (your score has only one *staff*, but it has many *systems* of one staff each):

The way 2.0 Beta 1 works, there are 2 settings for distance between systems - a minimum and a maximum. These are set in Style / General / Page. So set the minimum to whatever you want the distance to be on page 2, and leave the maximum big enough that page 1 continues to automatically stretch to fill the page as it currently does. I found that simply reducing the minimum distance to form 9.5sp to 9.0sp (sp = distance between staff lines) did exactly this. It also has the advantage of allowing to increase the size of the frame you have between the first and second systems, or maybe add more space between the second and third systems. Those first three systems are kind of crowded right now, but you can't increase the space between them without the last system spilling over onto the next page because the space is already at the minimum. Reducing the minimum distance allows more space to be added where you want it.
