How to make this space smaller
(beginner)
The more I try to edit anything or add another arpeggio the space gets larger.

or don't drag it downwards, but double click it and use Shift+down to have it attach correctly.

Darn, I knew there was another trick, but could not remember it.

The Shift+down method is much much better, it will be sized correctly automatically and remain so even if the staff spacing changes later.

I don't get it, Shift+down does absolutely nothing for me
Ah, it does not work if the notes are in different voices!

It was, by pure luck (or rather lack thereof), the score and situation I tried this on.
