Staff broken crashing file
Not sure what I did.
Page 20. I'm trying to get rid of this page and the staves on it. The final measure is like it's broken without a final barline.
I tried a few options after a simple Delete didn't work. Such as changing the meter and trying to change the ending barline to just a barline. But none of that worked. It's kind of stuck.
Is there any way to save this or will I have to start a whole new file?
I can't get the file or PDF to upload. I also took a screenshot and can't get that to upload. Now wondering if this is my own computer having problems. I'll try again tomorrow...later today.
Thanks, Sora

My file is 5.228 MB
I compressed the file, but it's still not uploading.
I read about backup files and extensions. My last backup in my Musescore folder called Backup is from 8/11/21. Hmmm, might that be a problem?
Today I am able to attach the PDF of the picture I took of page 20. This is where I think the crash is originating and the page I'm trying to get rid of.
Thanks, Sora

Aha!!! I created a new file with just the problem in it. Why didn't I think of that before?
So now you can see the problem that I can't resolve....the last measure in this file. Now on page 15.
Thanks, Sora

Select that last measure, press Ctrl+Del. Select the new last measure, press Ins.
Now you have the same number of measures but without that strange end barline in the middle of the last measure
You may need to apply page- and section break again

Ctrl+Del worked on the "smaller Deleted Version"
Then I tried it again on the "working Songs to Sing and Play" - it didn't work there and caused the "dash-dash-etc." to appear.

What "dash-dash-etc."?

On the real score - every time I press Del-Ctrl in the last measure of the problem page, it adds a dash on every other barline previous to the last measure.
I'm attaching a new PDF of a picture when I press Del-Ctrl.

I just deleted all the pictures AFTER the problem page. That didn't help.
So next I will delete all the music as well and see if then the problem will resolve itself.

It took deleting all measures after the issue page. But I was able to save everything prior to that. Even with these last pages deleted, the file is still at 4.73 M so I can't attach it.
I suppose I somehow confused everything or did too much work at once. I'll work more slowly to enter the music and pictures I need.

@Sora, https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/measure-operations#duration
A small - or + sign appears above the measure when its duration is different than indicated

Oh - maybe this is the issue. I added new time signatures to my pallet...maybe I did it the wrong way. Good suggestion. I will go look at that now - on the original version and see if I can save the entire score from there.
Thanks again, Sora

Here is a PDF of the Measure properties for the last measure, the one with the broken barline-staff issue.
And then the picture under it is the next time the score returns and the first measure of that music...Measure properties.
Is there something I need to change here?

I enlarged the picture so that I could see that extra line. I tried to delete it, but it wouldn't let me. I took a picture of it. It is the first in the PDF below.
Then I made a 2nd Deleted Version - hoping to get the file down in size so I could send it. This time I left ONLY the music and a few pictures on those pages. Yet, each time I saved it barely went down in size. Not enough to be able to send it.
So I closed out thinking that it might reset the size. When I went to open 2nd Deleted Version, it gave me an ERROR MESSAGE - first one. HOPE this might tell you what I need to do next. And possibly what I did wrong so I won't repeat it going forward.
Thanks,
Sora

Also - with that ERROR statement, it won't let me open this new file - 2nd Deleted Version.

Maybe you just want to know the error message....didn't think of that until now.
MSCX error at line 1867: invalid measure length: -3/4
Is there a way to resolve this?

I read through the thread you attached. That is quite "computer knowledge" detailed. Very interesting. Exactly what I was experiencing. Not sure I would understand how to fix my issue from it.
Since my problem seems fixed, I'll leave it for now...having replaced the measure time signature 5/4 - 3/4 changing to 2/4 -- apparently what the computer was looking for.
If it happens again, I'll reread the thread and contact you all for computer knowledge process.
For now - Just grateful I can continue on with my music on Musescore for my kiddos - and know what to expect and how to work with meter and measures when I return to working with larger orchestral scores after completing this project.
Thanks so much, Sora

Ok - I subtracted - and thought...
go to measure properties again, now put in ACTUAL 2/4
then I went to the page, clicked on the measure problem
changed its meter to 2/4 from my palette
and it worked - fixed!
YAY
Thanks for the measure properties alert!!!!! That was the answer.

A score with 5 MB is suspicious.
If it is an mscx: save as mscz.
If mscz: Does it have images,? If so remove those.
Edit: apparently it has. Delete from score, make the images smaller via some image editor, add them again to the score.
If it is just for reproducing the crash, remove the images and attach the score without them
