avoid selecting fermatas

• Sep 7, 2021 - 01:50

Hi, don't know if this is a feature request or if this is already possible. Any help is greatly appreciated. This maybe an odd usage, but it is for educational purposes. I want to delete all notes of a score but specific chords and notes. When selecting a bar or a few bars and deleting the notes, it also deletes the fermatas. The only way I find to not deleted is by deleting individually those notes where the fermata is. However, this is so time consuming it's horrible. Is there a way to select everything but the fermatas, do delete every note I want, but hold the fermatas in the silences. This is because it tampers with the original tempo of the song. When fermatas are removed the audio from the original does not match the one I have removed every other note/chord than the one I need. Thanks.

It's not clear what sort of real world use case you have in mind - attaching a sample score would help us understand. But as far as I can tell, simply filtering out articulations using View / Selection Filter would allow you to remove notes while leaving fermatas.

" Is there a way to select everything but the fermatas, do delete every note I want, but hold the fermatas in the silences. "

  1. Open the Selection Filter (F6), uncheck "All"
  2. In the Selection Filter, then choose "Voice 1", Voice 2", "Voice 3" and "Voice 4".
  3. Select All (Ctrl+A), press Delete.
  4. In the Selection filter, reselect "All".

This will delete all the notes, but leaves articulations and dynamics intact.
