Installing MDL has caused frequent crashes and slow loading

I installed the most recent version of MDL recently and ever since then Musescore 3.6.2 takes twice as long to load initially and crashes often when trying to save scores. When attempting to restore sessions I've discovered previously saved work is completely lost.

This didn't happen before installing MDL so I am not sure if this is a bug involving the program or the extension. Additional crashes have occurred when altering notehead types in the "Edit Drumset" window.
