notehead colors in 2.0 Beta 1

• Sep 7, 2014 - 00:51

The colors seem muted - i.e., more difficult to see (the blue, at least) - in the Beta. Additionally, they can no longer be controlled by a tab in Preferences. Is that a bug, or was it deliberate?

Bumping, because this is a good example of a comment regarding a significant change from 1.3 that's liable to affect many people. Is it a bug? Is it deliberate? I am not getting how everyone is seemingly too busy to offer an answer here ... or even to acknowledge a query about a significant change from someone who genuinely cares about MuseScore.

In a similar vein, I recently asked how the change in Text Style dialog boxes evolved such that any mention of reference points was removed (and, consequently, any offsets in percentages relative to such reference points). It's another example of what I believe to have been a meaningful question that simply went unnoticed or possibly ignored.

And if Lasconic thinks that questions like these - not urgent matters, obviously, but certainly deserving at least of an acknowledgement by someone at some point - are somehow just questions of 'misalignment of expectancies' from a 'troll', he should simply refrain from responding. That sort of misstreatment is surely alienating to everyone who participates in these forums and is counterproductive to say the least.

I can't imagine them having been take away from preferences being anything but a deliberate choice.
Same for the slight change of colors, done to match the changed overall design. I don't regard them muted either. Are you using the dark or the light theme? Is the other one better for you?
Not sure why you regard this a significant change, it is pretty minor in my opinion.

Reg. text style, I assume you talk about the 'on a related note' in http://musescore.org/en/node/22612#comment-146836? Better have a new thread about this... Where it is now, it is pretty well hidden...

Fwiw, please don't take it personally or read anything into it if a question occasionally goes unanswered. It's not like there is some sort of formal system for deciding who answers what. If I see a question I don't know the answer to, I usually pass, assuming someone else will come along and answer. Others presumably do the same. Sometimes, Werner is the only one who knows the answer, and he does not check the forums regularly from what I understand. And in any event, he's been on holiday for the past month.

If you don't get a reply to query, it doesn't hurt to bump it later, and then maybe people who didn't feel they were in the best position to answer first time around might be inspired to at least offer whatever partial answer they can. No need for this to become a point of contention.

Fwiw, I didn't respond because I don't know the answer. If I had to guess, I'd say it might related to the much-debated decision to remove the ability to use "native themes". I think the overall goal is to make the interface more consistent across systems.

As for the voice color changes being more or less difficult to see than before, I suspect that depends on your monitor brightness and color calibration. There have prior discussions of this, you might do a search to see if proves enlightening.

I believe it has been a deliberate choice to remove the ability to change the voice colors from preferences. I guess it was regarded as less important than other preferences and the dialog is already complex enough. However they are still stored in the preferences file as "selectColor1,2,3,4", so it would be possible to reinstatiate a way to change them. They have been discussion to create a list based UI for all the preferences since several of them are hidden. Something similar to firefox about:config. But no one implemented it yet.

Regarding the colors themselves, they changed again recently, after the beta release.

Actually I believe Mirek did it after reading your post but he probably forgot to mention it here.

How are the colors for you now? Which theme are you using?

(PS: I don't answer trollesque questions and insults, but I'm perfectly fine with constructive remarks. This post passed under my radar when it was first posted. Thank you for bumping it up.)
