just enter a line feed, return or enter key
Or select the syllable(s) and use the Inspector to increase the verse number
Assuming these are regular lines of lyrics, I wouldn't change verse numbers - I'd simply change the setting that control the space of verses. See Format / Style / Lyrics / Line height.
Also, the default should be readable normally, but it's possible something is off with your particular score that is causing a problem. Best to attach it here so we can be sure.
