FolderRedirection Error

• Feb 22, 2022 - 18:51

Hi all,

trying to install the latest version. The installer starts but then I get an error:
'FolderRedirection is not a valid short file name"

and then the installation aborts.

Any clue?

Thanks
Edo

Which version of MuseScore, which operating system?

But that likely is a message from the operating system to the installer. Any reason why it might be trying to install in something like that? Perhaps the folder you're installing into (or your user documents folder) are shortcuts/symlinks?

From the Microsoft Documentation:
"Folder Redirection enables users and administrators to redirect the path of a known folder to a new location, manually or by using Group Policy. The new location can be a folder on the local computer or a directory on a file share. Users interact with files in the redirected folder as if it still existed on the local drive. For example, you can redirect the Documents folder, which is usually stored on a local drive, to a network location. The files in the folder are then available to the user from any computer on the network."

So I still believe your Documents folder is not at the OS expected location and that is tripping up the installer.

Consider using the portable version instead.
