Concert pitch/written pitch

• Feb 22, 2022 - 18:54

I'm using Musescore 3.5.0. The "Concert Pitch" icon is gray. The song is being written in Eb. Therefore the piano, soprano, flute and all the concert pitch instrument staves show the Eb time signature. The Bb Clarinet staff shows a Db key signature, the French Horn shows an Ab signature and the Bb trumpet shows Db. In writing the parts, I want to write in CONCERT PITCH. i.e. I want to simply have every staff with the Eb, 3 flat signature indicated on the staff so that if I write an Ab chord, I will have either an Ab, C or Eb on every line. For example, if I want the clarinet to sound a C note, I could place the note head on the "C line" knowing that in the written score, the clarinet will play the sound of "C" which would be a Db.

I hope I have explained the problem without confusion. Now, when the "Concert Pitch" icon is white, it shows each instrument staff with three flats (Eb). In order to produce a C on the clarinet, I have to write a D. Then when I hit the "Concert pitch" icon, making it gray, it shows a C on the clarinet line with 5 flats (Db signature).

So, in order to simply the writing of the song in Eb, do I need the "gray icon" or the "white Icon" on the Concert pitch indicator?

Probably u related to the issue at hand, but 3.5.0 is very outdated. Update to 3.5.2 at least, better to 3.6.2 (and even that is more then a yearr old now)

Makre sure the concert pitch button is pressed (darker grey than rest with blue text in the light schema, slightly ligher grae and stilll blue text in the dark schema),

I do recall there being an extremely serious bug involving concert pitch in 3.5.0, so definitely update.
Then if you continue to have problems, please attach your score and and give precise steps to reproduce the problem.

Marc: I did load the 3.6 upgrade and re-wrote the score and it seems to be working well now. When I write all the notes in the 3 flat time signature (Eb), I can write it as though all instruments are concert pitch instruments. Then when I hit the "Concert Pitch" icon, it converts it properly into written pitch. In the previous post I wrote about, when the file was in 3.5.0, it functioned in just the OPPOSITE way! When I wrote the score in Eb in Concert pitch, it did not convert properly into the written pitch. So I think the problem is fixed in the new version. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
