1) Add lyrics. When you type the lyrics, a space character takes you to the next note. However, for tied notes, it treats the second note as a separate note - even though it's tied and wouldn't be played separately - and puts the cursor there. It's very easy typing lyrics to miss that and find you're on the wrong note. It may be there's a switch to change the behaviour!
What would be brilliant would be having a syllable dictionary so you could select the first note of a phrase and paste the lyrics with Musescore putting a syllable per note, but maybe that's asking a lot.

Use an _ (twice) to make that syllable cover both notes

Yes, that's what I have to do - but it means an extra thought - as in the previous thread, you usually want one syllable per note, so that should be the default for the odd occasion where you put multiple syllables on tied notes, that's where I'd want the extra step - maybe ctrl+- as a non-breaking hyphen, ctrl+ as non-breaking space.
Those nonbreaking spaces and dashes do exist and work already, and exactly as you described

So, really what I'm asking for is for the default behaviour to be treating tied notes as a single note for lyrics. This may all be moot as version 4.0 may change things anyway.
And that's exactly what #304139: Entering lyrics should skip tied notes is about. As far as I know MuseScore 4 doesn't fix this (yet) though.
