I was using the Bass Dulcimer tablature.
Under Staff/Part Properties I selected "Edit String Data"
I put a checkmark next to the lowest string (Showing D 3 by default)
I selected 'Edit String'
I changed the string to a C 3.
I hit OK in that dialog and then OK in the Strings Tuning dialog.
I then hit 'Apply' in the Staff/Part Properties dialog, and then OK
I pressed the 'N' key to bring up the blue box
I selected the bottom string (the one that I'd changed the tuning on) and pressed 5 (which is the fret number I wanted)
No matter which number I type, it comes up 0 and will not change. The only workaround is to keep the tuning as 'normal' and just have the strings off when I play them.
Comments
Please provide a sample score. Or better 2, befor your change to the string tuning and after.
Here are the files as requested. You can see that the fret numbers changed strings after I retuned the bottm string as well, and then I tried to add two 4's to the bottom string, which showed up as 0's.
I can't reproduce, starting with Jenny_Pluck_Pears_Pre-Retuning.mscz and usung your steps.
When I tune that string down from D3 to C3, the 2 existiong notes moce from fret 4 to fret 6, bit in your Jenny_Pluck_Pears_Post-Retuning.mscz they move to the fret 9 on the 2nd string
Ah: you ticked the box "Open", that's why, that means this strings has no frets at all and always sound as a C3 (or whatever its tuning is)
Ah. You're right! I thought it meant something different! That explains my problem! Thanks so much!
Yep... that fixed it, but the fret number went to the wrong string, but that doesn't surprise me. The bass dulcimer is a diatonic instrument, not a chromatic instrument. One of the idiosyncrasies of the instrument.
