1) Open Musescore with MDL Extension installed.
2) Select MDL Workspace
3) Click on any note, rest, or element in score.
4) Palettes window is blacked out.

This doesn't happen in general for most people, so it probably reflect some specific aspect of your system. What OS, what specific version of MuseScore (see Help / About), and what graphics device are you using? Usually black palette indicates an OpenGL compatibility issue. There are workarounds, but the details depend on those specifics. I recommend asking for help in the Support forum and including that info. Then people with the necessary sysadmin experience will be able to assist.
