Audio glitched out

• Jun 6, 2022 - 17:07

I've been trying to transcribe Rush E (a notoriously chaotic song) and keep running into audio issues when reaching measure 32 (score attached). Everything else is perfectly normal up until that point
Edit: Forgot to mention this, but only the second piano seems to be having issues. I copied part of the offending section into a new score, and it played normally twice, then glitched out again.
OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.2445556097, revision: 2513676
Tried:
-restarting computer
-factory reset
-installing latest nightly (issue persists)

The problem is due to the processing of Soundtfont (synthesizer). This problem occurs when both the "Vol Env Release Time" value is higher than certain values and the number of overlapping notes increases. At the same time, if overlapping layers are used, the number of notes used will be multiplied accordingly.

So far I have given the technical explanation normally required. After that, let me explain about the score you wrote: You used too many notes and octaves for a pianist to play. For example: From the 31st measure 17 notes are combined in a chord, and on the right hand the octaves are too open for a hand, more than the number of fingers, and this thing repeats in many places as sixteenth!
In other words, such a problem does not occur under normal conditions. However, if too many instruments are played together and there are artificial tremolos, etc., the synthesizer can get clogged.

After you've finished writing the score, I recommend exporting it as a midi file and trying it with different midi players (or DAWs) and using the one that plays best.
