Musescore crashes on startup on Fedora 36

• Jul 9, 2022 - 12:50

Hello,
Lately I updated my system to Fedora 36 (Gnome) and now I can't work with Musescore.
Program crashes every time, when I try to open file or create one.
I tried all available versions: rpm from Fedora repo, Flatpak and official AppImage verision with Wayland and Xorg display protocol.
It looks like there is a different problem with each version, but always with the same end result - the program closes unexpectedly.
I hope there is something it can be done to solve the issue.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind regards,
Piotr

Below I attach the messages from the terminal

  1. First I looked like it is a problem with Wayland:
Rpm package on Fedora 36 with Wayland:
    [piotr@fedora ~]$ mscore
QSocketNotifier: Can only be used with threads started with QThread
qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow::requestActivate()
    Unicestwiony

So, I tried to logout and switch do Xorg, but with no succes:

[piotr@fedora ~]$ mscore

So, I decided to switch to flatpak version but this also failed with:

And finally AppImage version:

I was able to determine what the problem is.
It appears that the problem is not with MuseScore, but with the Qjackctl (Jack Audio Connection Kit) program. MuseScore crashes when JACK is enabled (this has never happened before, I worked this way for many years with previous versions of Fedora), but it works with Pulseaudio. Unfortunately, I can't configure my MIDI keyboard in Pulseaudio, but that's another problem. Greetings, thank you for your help.
