Recommended practices, for transposing Low G Ukulele to guitar capo 5 (with same tablature fret numbers)

• Jul 12, 2022 - 07:52

So I completed an arrangement of Bach's BWV 837 as a duet for guitar and Low G ukulele. Next I wanted to convert it to an arrangement for two guitars, but with the former "Low G ukulele" part played on guitar with Capo 5—which results in "the same tablature" as the ukulele part, except with 6 strings instead of 4. (This works because the notes are only on strings 1 through 4.)

What are the recommended practices for accomplishing this?

Starting with the Guitar/Uke score:

... I transposed the uke part down a perfect 4th, from E minor to B minor, then added a capo at the 5th fret to raise the pitch back up a perfect 4th. And that works fine:

But I believe I should also be able to accomplish this in MuseScore via a Staff/Part Properties>Transposition. However I always get confused by that approach, prolly 'cause I'm thinking in reverse logic to how MuseScore handles it.

I'm hoping someone can offer insights that might permanently correct my thinking on this.

Thanks!

the easy way would be add lower strings ( D,A) to the uke and rename it: guitar capo V.
If you need the correct playback you can also change the sound.
