Changing Synthesizer and Mixer settings from Command Line

I'm going to generate a synthesized audio dataset from a small set of MIDI files. To this end, I'd like a representative dataset that simulates various pianos and recording conditions. Therefore, synthesizing with different sound fonts and effect settings might be helpful. Can those settings be changed from the command line? Do these settings values come from a specific file?
